Hospitality and tourism is diverse and global in nature and one of the growing industries around the world. The hospitality industry in Uganda and greater East Africa region is grappling with shortage of skilled workforce in areas of tour operations, hotel management and in agency business.
The Hotel, Travel and Tourism Management Diploma is designed to address the gap skills in the industry by preparing students who will have skills in hotel management, tour and travel operations in order to succeed in the fast-paced, rewarding and challenging world of hospitality and tourism sector.
The program appeals to individuals who are charismatic, outgoing, capable and energetic. Students will gain a broad range of management and operational skills and practical tools that will assist them in dealing with situations within a hospitality and tourism service environment.
The program provides the skills to progress to higher-level careers, given the proper combination of skills, experience, personal attributes, and additional training.
Programme Objectives
- To provide students with a solid foundation in mass communication and business concepts, practices and skills
- To impart students with critical thinking skills to analyze articles, and strong writing and journalistic skills to produce their own articles for public consumption.
- To introduce students into television, radio and print media production environments
